European Leaders Decry US Move as ‘Coercion’
European leaders such as Emmanuel Macron accused the US administration of “coercion and intimidation”, following the visa restrictions were placed on figures that were central to efforts to introduce legislation governing US-based technology firms.
“For far too long, ideologues in Europe have spearheaded organised efforts to coerce American platforms to suppress American viewpoints they disagree with,” stated the US secretary of state in a social media post. “The current administration will not stand for these egregious acts of extraterritorial censorship.”
